Ajedrez Mágico · Voice-controlled 3D game

3D chess game played by voice

A fantasy board with stone statues as pieces, played by dictating moves to a voice assistant. The rules are enforced by a software referee: the screen only draws what actually happened.

What it solves and for whom

01

Problem

A voice assistant that narrates moves can get them wrong or make them up, and a hand-drawn board often looks flat. The game needed correct rules and the polish of a commercial game.

02

Solution

Moves are dictated aloud: “peón de e2 a e4” (pawn e2 to e4) or “enroque corto” (kingside castling). A referee with the official rules decides what is legal, and the board is always rendered from the real position.

03

Who it's for

It is a module of the personal assistant Destiny: a test of how voice, AI, and 3D can coexist in a single experience.

What it does

Voice, rules, and spectacle

01

Played by voice

It opens when you say “juguemos ajedrez” (let's play chess) and you move by dictating your moves; it also answers “¿cómo va la partida?” (how is the game going?).

02

Referee with real rules

Every move is validated—castling, promotion, check, checkmate, and draws—and the image is always drawn from the true position.

03

Fantasy board and pieces

Statues of knights, rooks, kings, and queens on marble, with a starry sky and capture animations.

04

Opponent with its own engine

The assistant plays against the user with its own chess engine, without depending on external services.

What was built

Measured in tests
19 of 19 referee tests passing

Rules suite run during the visual redesign.

Measured in tests
0 “ghost pieces”

The bug in which a captured piece stayed on the board was reproduced and fixed, and a check against the real position was added.

How it's made

Technology behind it

Technical detail

The 3D view queries the game state from a local Python server, which uses python-chess as the referee and a custom alpha-beta pruning search engine as the opponent.

Status. Studio research project, in development. It runs locally as part of the Destiny assistant; there is no public version.
